Katherine Coates was appointed as non-executive director and at Talbot Underwriting Ltd, in November 2021, and will be appointed as Chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee subject to regulatory approval. She recently commenced her non-executive career, having spent 40 years at leading law firm Clifford Chance where held the role of Partner for over 20 years where she led the global insurance sector group of over 200 lawyers including preparation and implementation of business plans, identifying new business opportunities, raising the profile of the group inside and outside the firm. In addition, she chaired the firm's Audit and Risk Committee where she was influential on modernising the firm's approach to risk management, including the enhancement of internal audit protocols and the development of effective enterprise risk management frameworks and related policies and controls.
